Overview of HGV holdings

HGV brings together more than 75 companies under one roof – from mobility to urban development. Our focus is on infrastructure, real estate, transportation, and logistics.

We keep Hamburg running.

HGV is the holding company for most of the public companies of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, as well as for other investments. Over 75 major companies are consolidated under our umbrella, with HGV holding a majority stake. Our focus is on the public transport, traffic and logistics, utilities, and real estate and urban development sectors. Most of the group companies operate exclusively or predominantly in the greater Hamburg area. However, some companies – such as HHLA – also have national and international operations. To safeguard jobs and strengthen Hamburg as a business location, the City of Hamburg has also repeatedly acquired stakes in private companies through HGV.

HGV: Holdings by sector

Our investments cover a broad spectrum of industries that play a key role in Hamburg's economic and social life.

Public transport

For millions of people, public transport ensures their daily participation in social life in Hamburg – whether it's getting to work, to education, or to leisure activities. Our stakes in Hamburger Hochbahn AG, Verkehrsbetriebe Hamburg-Holstein GmbH, and P+R Betriebsgesellschaft are driving public transport forward.
